Mirra Andreeva exits Wimbledon after loss to Krejčíková

Mirra Andreeva suffered a second-round defeat at Wimbledon on July 1, 2026, falling to Barbora Krejčíková 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. The 19-year-old Russian, fresh off her French Open title, showed visible frustration during the match and broke down in tears afterward.

The match at the All England Club lasted two hours and 46 minutes. Andreeva took the first set but could not maintain momentum as Krejčíková mounted comebacks in the next two sets.

During the third set, Andreeva paused play after her bracelet broke, scattering beads on Centre Court. Ball boys and the chair umpire helped collect the pieces before play resumed.

In her post-match press conference, Andreeva said the loss felt tough and that she needed a couple of days before returning to practice. She also noted she would consult her team about upcoming tournaments.

Krejčíková, the 2024 Wimbledon champion, advanced to face fellow Czech Nikola Bartunkova in the third round. Andreeva became the first top-five seed eliminated from the women's singles draw.
