Mudik child in Sumedang aided to remove stuck ring

Mudik child Kian Rasyid suffered finger swelling from a stuck ring en route to Cimalaka. His family sought help at the BPBD Mudik Post in Terminal Ciakar, Sumedang. Rescuers removed it in 30 minutes using special tools.

The incident occurred on Sunday night, March 22, 2026, at the BPBD Mudik Collaboration Post, Terminal Ciakar, Sumedang, West Java. Kian Rasyid, a child from Ciparay mudik to Cimalaka, had his middle finger swell from a ring that wouldn't come off. The ring originally belonged to his mother, Elin Herlina, used interchangeably as a togetherness symbol—one on the right hand, one on the left. Hers, slightly larger, got stuck on his middle finger, entering but not exiting, said Elin Herlina. > “Awalnya tukar-tukaran. Dipakai dua-duanya sama anak, satu di tangan kanan dan satu di tangan kiri. Yang satu agak besar punya saya dipasang di jari tengah, tapi bisa masuk tidak bisa keluar,” she said. The family tried various methods, including an iron saw after Maghrib prayer, but failed. Elin then took Kian to the post. > “Memang sedang mudik ke Cimalaka. Setelah Maghrib sempat dicoba pakai gergaji besi, tapi tidak bisa. Akhirnya saya bawa ke posko. Alhamdulillah sekarang sudah lepas, terima kasih banyak atas bantuannya,” she stated. Nugraha Ajang Sopian, Commander of Squad 1, Sumedang District Fire and Rescue Service, led the effort. The thick ring was removed without major issues in 30 minutes. > “Tidak ada kendala, hanya cincinnya cukup tebal, jadi butuh waktu saja. Cincinnya sudah berhasil dilepas. Tadi pakai alat khusus untuk evakuasi cincin yang sulit dilepas,” he said.
