Mumbai's Bandra Talao drained for first-ever rejuvenation

Mumbai's Bandra Talao is being dewatered and desilted after a survey found no surviving aquatic life. The restoration aims to revive the lake's ecosystem.

Mumbai's Bandra Talao, also known as Swami Vivekanand Lake, is undergoing dewatering and desilting. This marks the first-ever rejuvenation effort for the water body.

A survey by the BMC H-West ward found no surviving aquatic life in the eutrophic lake. High BOD levels and years of pollution and stagnation prompted the action.

The work includes desilting to address the accumulated waste. Officials aim to restore the ecosystem through these measures.
