The scuffle unfolded with approximately two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of the Heat's 136-120 victory. After Pippen attempted a shot, Gardner bumped him from behind, knocking him to the floor. Pippen then jogged back down the court, pointed at Gardner, and delivered a two-handed shove that sparked a brief melee involving players from both teams. Officials quickly intervened, and with 1:19 left, both players were assessed technical fouls and ejected.

Pippen, the 25-year-old son of Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen, was appearing in his fourth game of the season after missing most of it due to a toe procedure. He made his debut on February 6 against the Portland Trail Blazers, where his father watched from courtside; Pippen started that game, playing 22 minutes for 13 points and six assists in a 135-115 loss. In the Heat matchup, he had his best performance yet with 18 points before the ejection.
Gardner, 24, has primarily come off the bench this season but started three of Miami's last seven games amid injuries. He played just over six minutes against Memphis, scoring six points.
The Grizzlies enter Monday with a 21-34 record, while the teams are not scheduled to meet again in the regular season.
