Nintendo censors explicit content in Dispatch for Switch platforms

Developer AdHoc has confirmed that its superhero comedy game Dispatch will feature censored explicit content on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, with no option to disable it. The changes ensure compliance with Nintendo's content criteria, while preserving the core narrative and gameplay. The game launches on these platforms today, January 28, 2026.

Dispatch, a four-episode interactive game developed by AdHoc—comprising former Telltale developers—explores reformed villains working in a superhero call center. Released originally last year, the title sold over 1 million copies in just 10 days and includes adult elements such as brief scenes showing supervillain Toxic's anatomy, exposed areola in a costume-fitting gag, romantic scenes, explicit hand gestures, and a late-game sex scene. It also features sounds suggesting sexual pleasure and profanity.

On non-Nintendo platforms, players could toggle censorship of this explicit content via the settings menu. However, for the versions launching on Switch and Switch 2 today, censorship is applied by default, with the toggle option removed entirely. According to NintendoLife, the late-game sex scene has been nerfed in these versions.

"Different platforms have different content criteria, and submissions are evaluated individually," AdHoc stated to Eurogamer ahead of the release. The studio added, "We worked with Nintendo to ensure the content within the title met the criteria to release on their platforms, but the core narrative and gameplay experience remains identical to the original release."

This approach aligns with Nintendo's platform guidelines, though the Switch eShop hosts other suggestive content, including anime-style games rated ESRB 17+. AdHoc's success has prompted considerations for a second season, potentially expanding on the first's elements amid fan enthusiasm.
