No. 6 LSU beats No. 13 Oklahoma 91-72 in women's basketball

The Tigers extended their lead to 45-35 at halftime, powered by 15 points from Flau'jae Johnson, who limited Oklahoma's Chavez to just three points on 1-for-6 shooting before the break.

LSU pulled further ahead, leading 70-52 after the third quarter. Jada Richard contributed 21 points for the Tigers, who lead the nation in scoring at over 100 points per game. Oklahoma, second nationally at nearly 91 points per contest, struggled with foul trouble, as two players fouled out.

Payton Verhulst led the Sooners with 21 points, including a season-high five 3-pointers on 7-of-17 shooting, along with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Raegan Beers notched her 59th career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, plus two blocks, despite foul trouble limiting her first-half minutes. The Sooners made 12 3-pointers and dished out 24 assists on 26 field goals, achieving a 92.3% assist rate—the team's highest of the season.

This loss marked Oklahoma's third straight defeat to ranked teams under coach Jennie Baranczyk, and the first back-to-back home conference losses since 2020. The Sooners, who share a historic rivalry with LSU coach Kim Mulkey from Big 12 days, host No. 2 South Carolina on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
