Nsui workers protest outside DD News over Rahul Gandhi remark

Nsui activists staged a fierce protest outside DD News office at Mandi House in New Delhi on Tuesday against anchor Ashok Shrivastava's alleged derogatory remark on Rahul Gandhi. They burnt an effigy of the anchor and vandalised property nearby. Delhi Police arrested three workers.

Nsui activists gathered outside the DD News office at Mandi House in New Delhi on Tuesday to protest anchor Ashok Shrivastava's remark during a prime-time debate, where he allegedly compared opposition leader Rahul Gandhi to the 'dust of Savarkar's chappal'.

The protesters burnt an effigy of the anchor and carried out vandalism near the premises. Delhi Police arrested three Nsui workers—Rahul Kajla, Akhilesh Yadav, and Satyam Kushwaha—at Mandir Marg police station on charges of violence. Officers are identifying and searching for other suspects.

Nsui described the arrests as an attempt to suppress democratic protest. National president Vinod Jakhar condemned both the anchor's remark and the arrests, accusing government media of political propaganda. The organisation demanded immediate release of the arrested workers, a public apology from the anchor, and accountability for state-run media outlets.

DD News and Prasar Bharati have not issued any official response yet. Security has been tightened in the Mandi House area, with police continuing their investigation.
