Orlob and Jane win CDI5* Grand Prix Special at AGDF

Marcus Orlob and Jane secured victory in the CDI5* Grand Prix Special at the 2026 Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, with a personal best score of 75.979%. Canadian Olympian Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu placed second aboard Jaccardo, also achieving a career high. In the CDI3* class, Meagan Davis and Toronto Lightfoot claimed top honors with 71.489%.

The Grand Prix Special took place on Saturday, January 25, 2026, during week three of the 12-week AGDF in Wellington, Florida. In the 3 Graces Dressage CDI5* class, U.S. Olympian Marcus Orlob rode Jane, a mare by Desperado, to a captivating performance marked by power, suppleness, and soft uphill balance. Their score of 75.979% included two judges' marks over 77%, marking a personal best for the pair.

The top four riders all achieved personal bests under clear Florida skies. Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu and her 12-year-old Desperado stallion Jaccardo, owned by Jill Irving, scored 74.575% in Jaccardo's first Special after less than a year at international grand prix level. This result fell just 1% short of the Canadian record set by Belinda Trussell and Anton at AGDF in 2016. Geñay Vaughan and her mother's 15-year-old Bretton Woods gelding Gino earned 71.681%.

Orlob, who has ridden the sensitive mare for two years after taking over from owner Alice Tarjan, noted progress in managing her nerves. "I was really happy that she behaved and controlled her nerves on Thursday, and again today she had a good performance," Orlob said. He was eliminated early at the 2024 Paris Olympics due to a speck of blood on Jane's leg. "I started the test today a little conservative. Then, as it went on, she started to breathe and I let her go a bit more and the passage was really nice."

In the Palm Beach Equine Clinic CDI3* Grand Prix Special, Meagan Davis and Scott Durkin's 13-year-old Totilas gelding Toronto Lightfoot won with 71.489%, another personal best. Camille Carrier Bergeron and her family's 16-year-old Fidertanz mare Finnländerin, an Olympic mount from Paris 2024, took second at 70.936%. Tina Konyot and Grover placed third.

Davis, in her third international Grand Prix season with Toronto Lightfoot, has won three of four recent starts. "We had some mistakes in Thursday’s Grand Prix, where they finished fifth, and a lack of confidence in the show ring, so to then come in today and be able to shine was really exhilarating," she said. Coached by Olympic bronze medalist Ali Brock, Davis aims for European competition this summer.
