Overwatch fans criticize new ultra skins pricing

Blizzard introduced a new Ultra tier of cosmetics for Overwatch, starting with Nyan Cafe skins for Kiriko and Sierra. The individual skins cost 3500 Overwatch Coins, equivalent to $35. Fans have expressed frustration over the price compared to previous Legendary skins.

The Ultra skins feature visual and audio effects on kills, along with silhouette changes similar to Legendary items. They lack the color customization options found in Mythic skins.

Individual skins sell for 3500 coins while Legendary skins typically cost 1900 coins. Bundles including emotes and highlight intros are priced at $45 each or $69 for both characters, with a larger themed bundle reaching $99.

Players have compared the pricing unfavorably to past collaborations such as the Le Sserafim event and to cosmetics in other games like Marvel Rivals. Some Kiriko mains have already purchased the items despite the backlash.

Pop star Doja Cat posted positively about the Nyan Cafe bundle on social media.
