Palace mum on Marcos Jr.’s alleged hiring of PR firm

Malacañang dismissed as speculation an investigative report alleging that President Marcos hired a London public relations firm before the 2022 election.

Malacañang yesterday described as “based on speculation and intrigue” an investigative report claiming that President Marcos had tapped a London public relations firm to rehabilitate his image.

According to a report by Whale Hunting, communications firm Project Associates sent Marcos a “confidential” proposal a month before he won the 2022 presidential race offering to “manage” the international narrative around him for $144,000 a month.

“We have no comment on articles based on speculation and intrigue,” Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said. “The Palace deals (with) facts and is focused on the problems facing Filipinos today, not speculation about events years ago,” she added.

The Whale Hunting report, titled “The Scapegoat” and written by Bradley Hope, is dated May 19, 2026.

Malacañang clarified that Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla's estimate of fugitive Zaldy Co returning to the Philippines in one to three weeks was his personal view. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said it does not reflect President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s or the Palace's position. The government also confirmed Co is seeking asylum in France after his release from Czech custody.

Malacañang has shrugged off the coalition launched on Sunday by allies of the Duterte family. The Reform Alliance for Good Governance and Accountability, or RAGE Coalition, led by Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, unites political forces aligned with the Dutertes amid government challenges like anomalous infrastructure projects and soaring fuel prices. Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said President Marcos will not be swayed by personal grudges or ambitions.
