Nintendo has shared confirmed details about Pokémon Winds and Waves, the first games in the tenth generation of the series. The pair of RPGs will be exclusive to the Switch 2 and arrive in 2027. They introduce an open-world setting inspired by Southeast Asia.
The new region draws from locations including the Philippines, with additional influences from Indonesia and Malaysia. Players will explore both on land and underwater, encountering Pokémon that appear only below the surface.
Version differences include distinct starting outfits. Winds features a white cowboy hat and backpack, while Waves offers a blue cap and bag. The three starter Pokémon are Browt, a grass-type bird, Pombon, a fire-type dog, and Gecqua, a water-type gecko.
Returning Pokémon visible in trailers include Pikachu, Tropius, and Wailord. Two story characters named Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu will also appear. All other details circulating online remain unconfirmed at this time.
