President Prabowo Subianto inspected three flood and landslide-affected sites in West Sumatra by helicopter on Thursday morning. The visit covered Agam, Padang Pariaman, and Tanah Datar regencies to monitor infrastructure recovery and refugee conditions. His presence was met with emotional welcomes from residents at the Agam refugee post.
President Prabowo Subianto arrived in West Sumatra on Wednesday (17/12/2025) and held a limited meeting at the West Sumatra Military Regional Command before proceeding with inspections on Thursday (18/12/2025). He departed from Sutan Sjahrir TNI AU Base in Padang using a TNI AU Caracal helicopter at 08.23 WIB, accompanied by Interior Minister Tito Karnavian, Defense Minister Sjafrie Syamsuddin, ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, TNI Chief Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, BNPB Head Suharyanto, Deputy PUPR Minister Diana Kusumastuti, and West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi.
The first stop was Agam Regency, landing at the Ipensi Ngungun Soccer Field helipad. At the SD 05 Kayu Pasak Palembayan Refugee Post in Salareh Aia Village, Palembayan Subdistrict, Prabowo reviewed temporary housing plans and residents' conditions. An emotional atmosphere enveloped the site as residents welcomed him enthusiastically, including a middle-aged man who cried during a handshake; Prabowo patted his shoulder. He greeted residents and children, posed for photos, accompanied by the singing of Indonesia Raya. In his remarks, Prabowo appreciated the community's resilience: "I see mothers in difficult conditions still welcoming me well, children joyful, and thanks to all parties who have worked hard, officials, government officials, governor, regent, all organizers." Next, to Padang Pariaman Regency, landing at SMA 1 Kayu Tanam field helipad, inspecting the Mantuang Bridge construction using a bailey bridge. The final agenda was at Lembah Anai Road in Tanah Datar Regency, checking progress on the disaster-affected road reconstruction. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated the visit ensures acceleration of infrastructure recovery, including temporary housing, refugee posts, and damaged bridges. Afterward, Prabowo returned to Minangkabau International Airport to fly back to Jakarta.
This visit underscores the central government's commitment to supporting post-disaster recovery in West Sumatra, where floods and landslides since late November have isolated areas and damaged infrastructure.
Accompanied by various ministers and officials, the inspection aims to expedite aid and coordination with local government.
