Rebel Wilson's The Deb gets first trailer and digital release

Rebel Wilson’s directorial debut The Deb has its first trailer as Sunrise Films sets a U.S. digital release for late August.

Sunrise Films announced an August 25 digital release in the United States for the musical comedy. The film will launch one day earlier in the United Kingdom through Vertigo Releasing.

The original April 9 release date was delayed due to a legal dispute. Star Charlotte MacInnes sued Wilson for defamation amid the conflict.

The story centers on farm girl Taylah Simpkins, played by Natalie Abbott, who seeks reinvention at a debutante ball. Her cousin Maeve, portrayed by MacInnes, joins her in the small Australian town of Dunburn.

Additional cast members include Stevie Jean, Tara Morice, Steph Tisdell and Shane Jacobson. Wilson appears in a supporting role.
