Remessas superam a marca de US$ 1 bilhão por 24 meses consecutivos

O Banco de la República informou que as remessas atingiram US$ 1,189 bilhão em maio, um aumento de 8,5% em relação ao ano anterior.

Dados do banco central confirmam que este é o vigésimo quarto mês consecutivo em que as transferências de colombianos no exterior ultrapassam o limite de US$ 1 bilhão.

Nos primeiros cinco meses do ano, as remessas totalizaram US$ 5,637 bilhões, enquanto o investimento estrangeiro direto atingiu US$ 3,625 bilhões. Isso equivale a US$ 1,56 em remessas para cada dólar de investimento estrangeiro direto.

O analista Diego Montañez Herrera, da Universidad EAFIT, observou que as remessas ganharam relevância à medida que outras fontes de divisas estrangeiras apresentam maior volatilidade. Ele acrescentou que, diferentemente das exportações de petróleo, carvão ou café, as remessas mantiveram uma tendência mais estável.
