Report: New contract for Bayern's top talent Lennart Karl

According to a report by broadcaster Sky, the contract of Lennart Karl, a promising midfielder at Bayern Munich, will automatically extend by one year on his 18th birthday. Karl, who turns 18 on February 22, 2026, would thus be bound to the record champions until at least 2029. The current contract runs until 2028 and will be converted into a professional deal with an adjusted salary. There is no exit clause.

Karl recently impressed in the Bundesliga during the 3-0 win in Mönchengladbach and in the Champions League in the 4-0 home victory against FC Brugge. In these matches, he scored his first goal in each competition. In the Bundesliga, he has started once and come off the bench five times.

Bayern Munich faces 1. FC Köln in the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday, kickoff at 8:45 p.m. on ARD and Sky. The 18-year-old could feature again and continue his development.
