Road to the Top secures $1 million endowment pledge

The nonprofit Road to the Top has announced a $1 million endowment pledge to bolster its long-term sustainability in supporting young American show jumpers. This commitment aims to provide stability for the organization's programs, though it underscores the ongoing need for annual donor contributions. Executive director Sissy Wickes highlighted the pledge as a key step in building a stronger foundation for emerging equestrian talent.

On January 20, 2026, Road to the Top (RTTT), a nonprofit dedicated to nurturing talented young American equestrians in show jumping, revealed a significant $1 million endowment pledge. This financial commitment is intended to enhance the organization's longevity and program stability, allowing it to sustain training, education, and support for riders aiming for international competition.

RTTT pairs promising young professionals with elite mentorship, covering horsemanship, riding skills, and the business side of the sport. Guidance comes from top figures including Laura Kraut and Katie Prudent, helping participants advance toward high-level events.

"This endowment pledge is an extraordinary vote of confidence in our mission and our riders," said Sissy Wickes, RTTT's executive director. She emphasized that while the endowment will create continuity, it does not eliminate the need for continued fundraising. "Endowment income can strengthen sustainability," Wickes added, "but it doesn’t fully fund the breadth of what it takes to develop a pipeline of American talent. Our community’s support—through donations, sponsorships, and participation in fundraising events—remains essential."

The pledge serves as a cornerstone amid efforts to expand donor engagement, but RTTT continues to rely on annual contributions to cover day-to-day operations and access to horses and high-performance experiences. For more information or to donate, visit roadtothetop.org.
