Sally Knyvette wants to return for Blake's 7 reboot

Sally Knyvette, who played Jenna Stannis in the original Blake's 7 series, has expressed strong interest in appearing in the upcoming reboot. She believes her current acting experience would allow her to bring more depth to the role. The reboot is being developed by director Peter Hoar, executive Matthew Bouch, and producer Jason Haigh-Ellery.

Sally Knyvette starred as Jenna Stannis in the British sci-fi series Blake's 7 from 1978 to 1979. She left the show in the 1970s after becoming dissatisfied with the character's development, which shifted from an intergalactic space pirate to what she described as a "dolly bird." Knyvette then pursued university studies and initially thought she would move on from the series, but it has remained a significant part of her life.

Recently, rights to Blake's 7 have been acquired by director Peter Hoar, executive Matthew Bouch, and producer Jason Haigh-Ellery, who are working on a reboot. In an exclusive interview, Knyvette stated, "I'd love to be [involved]. Of course I would." She noted that her character's ending in the original series was ambiguous, adding, "I’m alive! And anyway, if I wasn't, I could be cloned."

Knyvette highlighted her growth as an actor since the 1970s, when she felt "unformed" and constrained by the glamorous aspects of the role. "Now, I know I could bring so much more to it," she said. The character has continued in Big Finish audio productions, where Jenna remains active.

Regarding the reboot, Knyvette hopes it will reflect the original's spirit, with a cast that forms a strong ensemble like the original. "I would like it to mirror some of the originals, and hopefully they'll get a team like ours, which was sort of magical," she explained. The original cast bonded well and used humor to navigate production challenges. She suggested honoring the original actors, saying, "Hopefully the fans will ask for that. I think they will."

No casting details have been announced for the reboot.
