Sonesson pledges focus on infrastructure and commuting

After the election, Moderate Party's Carl Johan Sonesson promises Region Skåne will prioritize Skåne receiving its share of infrastructure funds and increased cross-strait commuting.

Carl Johan Sonesson, chair of Region Skåne's executive board, stresses the need to secure the surplus from the Öresund Bridge. From 2029 nearly one billion kronor per year should fund infrastructure in the region beyond the national plan.

He also wants to raise the number of daily commuters across the strait to 30 000 within ten years from the current 23 000. Better alignment of social insurance and pension systems through the Greater Copenhagen Partnership is key to reducing unemployment.

Sonesson further pushes for a single electricity price area and expanded nuclear power in southern Sweden. He remains cautious about innovation procurements after past negative experiences.
