On Friday, February 27, South Georgia State College (SGSC) hosted the GISA Region 2AA Literary Competition at its Douglas campus. The event brought together talented high school students from across Southwest Georgia, who showcased their abilities in a range of academic and fine arts categories. These included music performance, essay writing, extemporaneous speaking, piano, and additional activities, highlighting creativity and student achievement throughout the day.

In support of educational excellence, the South Georgia State College Foundation presented a $1,000 scholarship. The recipient, senior Sage Grimes from Georgia Christian School, was selected through a random drawing during the competition. This organization, one of two dedicated to aiding SGSC, focuses on improving opportunities for students at the Douglas campus, online learners, and those in the SGSC Entry Program at Valdosta State University.

The SGSC Foundation operates under a Board of Trustees and is led by Chelsea Preston Graham, who serves as the Assistant Director of Advancement and Annual Fund. The event underscored the college's commitment to fostering talent and providing financial support in the region.
