Two girls are being treated in hospital with serious injuries after a suspected murder attempt in a villa outside Alvesta on Saturday. A suspected perpetrator was found dead near the residence.
Police were alerted just before 11 a.m. on Saturday morning to a residence in a small community outside Alvesta. Two girls under 18 were found there with serious injuries. One of them had life-threatening injuries.
The girls were taken to hospital. According to police, the suspected perpetrator, a man, knew the injured children. He was found dead around 2:30 p.m. near the property. The incident is classified as attempted murder and police describe it as an isolated event.
Alvesta municipality has activated a crisis group. The Church of Sweden in Alvesta is staying open extra hours for talks and support. Neighbors express shock at the incident and say they are thinking of the children.
