Suspicious dangerous object thrown during police raid in Norrköping

Police cordoned off an area in Hageby, Norrköping, after a suspicious dangerous object was thrown from an apartment during a house search. A man in his mid-20s was arrested on suspicion of a gross violation of the law on explosives and flammable goods. The national bomb squad secured the object late in the afternoon, and the cordon was lifted.

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, police conducted a house search in an apartment on Hagebygatan in the Hageby district of Norrköping, linked to a previous investigation. Around 3 p.m., a suspicious dangerous object was thrown out through a window and landed on the inner courtyard. The area was cordoned off, and residents in eight nearby stairwells were evacuated for safety.

According to police spokesperson Martina Gradian, a man in his mid-20s was in the apartment and was arrested on suspicion of a gross violation of the law on explosives and flammable goods. It is unclear if he was the one who threw the object. “We were on site to conduct a house search... The man we searched the home of has been arrested,” Gradian said. Police have an idea of what the object is, but it will take a few days before more details can be released. A technical examination is planned for the residence.

By 7:30 p.m., police announced that the national bomb squad had secured the object and that the cordons would be lifted. Residents in the area expressed concern over the incident. “It's not safe here,” said a resident named Ajok to SVT Nyheter. Another inhabitant wondered: “What's wrong with this city,” after getting caught in the chaos on the way to work.

The incident has led to a preliminary investigation against the arrested man. Police emphasize that they are working to clarify the circumstances surrounding the suspicious object.
