Suvendu Adhikari announces direct land purchase policy in Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a direct land purchase policy for industries on Saturday and laid the foundation stone for a Rs 600 crore Lux Cozi garment facility in Dankuni.

Adhikari spoke at the event in Hooghly district. He said the government would procure land under the Direct Land Purchase Policy for investors rather than acquire it. “We do not want another Singur or Nandigram,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also announced a single-window clearance system for investment proposals worth Rs 100 crore and above. Clearances would be handled through the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation and relevant state departments.

The new Lux Cozi facility will add capacity of 20 crore pieces annually. It is expected to create 3,000 direct and 6,000 indirect jobs. Attendees included Industries Minister Tapas Roy and BJP state president Shamik Bhattacharya.
