Swedish actor Jacob Ericksson dies at 58

Swedish actor Jacob Ericksson has died after a period of illness, according to Riksteatern. He was 58 years old and broke through in the 1990s with roles in films like Adam and Eva. Throughout his career, he appeared in numerous Swedish films, series, and theater productions.

Jacob Ericksson passed away on Friday afternoon after a period of illness, as announced in a press release from Riksteatern. He trained at the theater school in Gothenburg in the early 1990s and subsequently worked at Backa Teater in the same city. A few years after graduation, he had his breakthrough in Måns Herngren and Hannes Holm's film Adam and Eva, where he played the role of the friend Åke. Ericksson then moved to Stockholm and continued his career in film, TV, and theater.

In 1999, he appeared in Tsatsiki, morsan och polisen as the police officer Göran. The film won four Guldbaggar awards: best cinematography, best film, best screenplay, and best director. During the 2000s, he featured in productions such as Lasse-Majas detektivbyrå, Solsidan, and Män som hatar kvinnor. In recent years, he performed in Lars Norén's Tiden är vårt hem at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and in Galeasen's production of Bergman's Fanny and Alexander. This autumn, he was scheduled to tour with Riksteatern, but his participation was canceled due to illness.

Riksteatern's theater director Dritëro Kasapi describes him as follows: 'Jacob Ericksson was a warm and considerate person with great integrity – a quality that permeated his artistry. He never settled, never took shortcuts in creation, and always delivered complex, deep, and engaging interpretations.' Colleague actress Annika Hallin says: 'He was a fantastic and great actor, with an incredible inner engine.' Ericksson's career spanned three decades, leaving a significant mark on Swedish stage and film art.
