Teardown launches multiplayer update in mid-March

Indie developer Tuxedo Games has announced a major multiplayer update for Teardown, scheduled for release on March 12, 2026. The update adds online play for up to 12 players across several modes, marking the largest expansion in years. It includes new arenas and modding tools to support community creations.

Tuxedo Games, the developer and publisher behind the indie title Teardown, confirmed the upcoming multiplayer update during a recent announcement. The game, which has received various updates since its release, will introduce online multiplayer functionality next month on Steam. This feature, long requested by the community, allows up to 12 players to engage in the game's fully destructible environments.

Players can participate in classic modes such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and a co-op version of the base game's campaign. Sandbox Mode will also support multiplayer, enabling collaborative or competitive destruction. The update brings two new dual-sided arenas to the existing map collection, alongside an expanding library of community-made maps.

A key addition is multiplayer support for the Teardown API, which lets creators develop new cooperative and competitive modes, maps, tools, and more. These can be accessed through the in-game mod library. Pre-launch playtests have already resulted in hundreds of multiplayer-specific mods, including The Floor Is Lava, Battle Royale, and Prop Hunt.

Console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are planned for later in 2026. Tuxedo Games also teased a future high-octane multiplayer racing experience for the game. The update launches on March 12, 2026, expanding Teardown's replayability through social and creative elements.
