Tokyo sergeant dismissed for photographing women's naked dead bodies

The Metropolitan Police Department dismissed a 52-year-old sergeant for privately photographing naked dead bodies of women. The officer, stationed at Ayase police station in Tokyo, kept about 500 images at his home from 2009 to 2022.

The Metropolitan Police Department dismissed a 52-year-old male officer on Friday after discovering he had privately photographed naked dead bodies of women under investigation as unnatural deaths. The former sergeant, based at Ayase police station in Adachi Ward, Tokyo, kept the photographs at his home. According to MPD sources, he took photos of about 20 bodies using his smartphone, amassing around 500 images between 2009 and 2022 while handling forensics at morgues in Akabane, Joto, and Fuchu police stations. The images were not confirmed to have been shared outside his home. The discovery came during an investigation following his arrest in September 2025 on suspicion of taking illicit photographs at a train station in Saitama Prefecture. Sources also indicate he allegedly filmed up women's skirts at stations in Saitama and Tokyo five times since December 2022. The allegations have been referred to prosecutors.
