Traditional oil well explodes in Aceh Timur

A traditional oil well owned by residents in Gampong Lhok Lemak, Darul Ihsan district, Aceh Timur regency, exploded on Sunday.

Aceh Timur police reported the incident occurred at a traditional oil well site. Five fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the blaze.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Aceh Timur Police AKP Novrizaldi said the cause of the explosion remains unknown and is under investigation. Officers installed barriers to secure the location.

As of the report, no official information has been released regarding casualties or material losses. Residents were urged not to approach the site to avoid potential follow-up explosions.
