Tulsa King spin-off retitled Frisco King with Taylor Sheridan writing scripts

Paramount+ has announced that the Tulsa King spin-off, now titled Frisco King, will be written entirely by creator Taylor Sheridan. The series stars Samuel L. Jackson and shifts its setting to Texas. Production is set to begin in late March in Fort Worth.

Paramount+ revealed on Tuesday that Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the Tulsa King universe, will write all eight episodes of the upcoming spin-off Frisco King. The series stars Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a character first introduced in Tulsa King Season 3.

Originally titled NOLA King and set in New Orleans, the project has been retitled and relocated to Texas. It was ordered to series last July. Matt Thunell, president of Paramount Television Studios, stated: "We are honored to have Taylor Sheridan write the first season of 'Frisco King' and bring to life Samuel L. Jackson's iconic character. Having him pen all episodes of the season with his singular voice will be a treat for fans of 'Tulsa King' and audiences around the world."

Sheridan and Jackson will executive produce alongside Sylvester Stallone, who plays Dwight Manfredi in the original Tulsa King. Stallone's series has been renewed for Season 4, though no return date is scheduled, nor is there a premiere timetable for Frisco King on Paramount+.

Production starts in late March in Fort Worth, Texas. Sheridan's portfolio includes Mayor of Kingstown, which ends with Season 5; Lioness, renewed for Season 3; Landman, renewed for Season 3; and upcoming series Marshals, a Yellowstone spin-off featuring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, and The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell.
