Two members of a Kerala family died and four others were injured in a road accident in Saudi Arabia while returning from Umrah pilgrimage.
The accident occurred on Sunday night on the express highway from Taif to Riyadh near Dhalm, about 200 km from Riyadh. The deceased have been identified as Rahana, wife of Thekkepeediyakkal Abdul Latheef, and their daughter Nehala. Both were from Rangattur near Kuttippuram in Kerala.
The family, long-time residents of Qatar, had travelled by road from Qatar to Makkah for the pilgrimage. They were returning to Qatar at the time of the crash.
Latheef, his two other daughters and a grandchild sustained injuries in the incident. They were admitted to hospital for treatment.
