Ty Dolla $ign releases single 'miss u 2' with Leon Thomas

Ty Dolla $ign has announced a new six-song R&B project titled girl music, vol. 1, set for release on March 6. The project returns to his live-band roots with an organic sound. The lead single, 'miss u 2' featuring Leon Thomas, is now available through Atlantic Records.

Ty Dolla $ign is returning to his live-band R&B roots with girl music, vol. 1, a six-song project scheduled for release on March 6. The collection emphasizes a more organic, musical vibe, featuring songs suited for various moments, such as getting ready, club nights, or reflecting on crushes.

The idea for the project originated from a dinner conversation in New York City, where the restaurant's DJ inspired thoughts on music that resonates with women. Ty Dolla $ign shared in a statement: “'girl music' started as a conversation at dinner in NYC. The DJ at the restaurant was playing all the right music, and it got us thinking about the music that girls really want to hear. Everything about this project has been organic and natural. From the name of the project to the song selection and sequence to the collaborators. It all just fell into place. This project was a natural return back to my musical sound, back to performing with a live band; my real R&B vibes. This is really some of my favorite music I've made in a long time. And this is only volume one....”

The debut single from the project, 'miss u 2,' features Leon Thomas and was produced by Keyz. The track employs a simple snap beat, lush synth pads, and subtle enhancements to highlight Thomas's vocal delivery. It underscores the creative synergy and mentorship between Ty Dolla $ign and Thomas, who has now joined him at EZMNY Records.

This release aligns with EZMNY Records' growing momentum, following the recent livestreamed event Ty Dolla $ign & Friends — The EZMNY JammJam, produced in collaboration with Jammcard. The single positions the project as a highlight of the label's R&B-focused direction.
