Tyler Angle joins Leksand after turning down SHL offers

Canadian forward Tyler Angle has signed with Leksand. The 25-year-old chose the club over other opportunities in North America and Germany.

Angle spoke about the move while traveling from his hometown of Niagara Falls toward Toronto. He said the club impressed him with its ambition to win and its vision for his role.

The player spent four seasons in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters after being drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He made his NHL debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins and scored his only NHL goal against the Buffalo Sabres.

Angle previously played one season in Germany before returning to the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins. He credited Swedish teammates, including Anton Johansson, with helping him decide on Leksand.

He is scheduled to arrive in the town during the first week of August. Angle said he hopes to combine strong two-way play with more offensive production for the team and its supporters.
