Västerviks IK is working to bring defenseman Oskar Drugge back to the club after his five seasons in Denmark. The 33-year-old remains without a contract following a successful stint with Sönderjyske.
The Hockeyettan side is seeking a right-shot, playmaking defenseman for its top pairing, a profile that matches Drugge. He recorded 42 points in 53 games last season and won two Danish titles during his time abroad.
Drugge played 225 games for Västervik between 2015 and 2021. Sportchef Victor Öhman said the club wants to explore a return if possible and is prepared to help arrange civilian employment for the player, who has a partner and two children.
Drugge confirmed his family plans to spend the summer in Västervik but noted that no team is confirmed yet. He said family considerations, including his son's upcoming start of school, will influence any decision.
