Virgin Media Television launches inclusive series The Assembly Ireland

Virgin Media Television has announced The Assembly Ireland, a new format featuring autistic and neurodivergent reporters interviewing prominent figures. The series aims to transform traditional celebrity interviews by allowing unfiltered questions. It premieres on January 19 and runs for four episodes.

Virgin Media Television is introducing The Assembly Ireland, described as an inclusive and compelling television format designed to reshape interviews on Irish screens. In this series, a group of autistic and neurodivergent reporters, collectively known as 'The Assembly,' will conduct fearless interviews with well-known Irish personalities. The format ensures that nothing is off limits, with the reporters having prepared extensively to pose direct and revealing questions.

The series will feature guests including Taoiseach Micheál Martin, comedian Joanne McNally, US talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, and broadcaster Ryan Tubridy. These individuals will respond honestly—or attempt to—to the inquiries, potentially uncovering raw truths and unexpected revelations. This approach rips up the conventional rulebook for celebrity interviews, promising candid exchanges that address topics the public has long wanted explored.

The Assembly Ireland premieres on Monday, January 19, at 9pm on Virgin Media PLAY and Virgin Media One, airing weekly for a total of four episodes. It is based on an international hit format developed by Can’t Stop Media and is produced by Kite Entertainment for Virgin Media Television. The production receives support from Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound and Vision Funding Scheme, highlighting its commitment to innovative and diverse programming in Ireland.
