Will Hayward releases third book on Welsh politics

Investigative journalist Will Hayward is set to publish his third book, exploring the political and social challenges facing Wales. Titled 'Who Cares About Wales?: Why The Welsh Need To Get Angry', the book critiques governance in both Westminster and Cardiff Bay. Its release comes ahead of the Senedd election in May.

Will Hayward, a prominent investigative journalist and columnist known for his insights into Welsh politics, is releasing his third book on March 13. Hayward has established himself as a key commentator on public affairs in Wales, with contributions to The Guardian and appearances on radio and television where he breaks down complex issues for wide audiences.

The new book, 'Who Cares About Wales?: Why The Welsh Need To Get Angry', offers a detailed examination of how Wales has been disadvantaged by decisions from Westminster and its devolved government in Cardiff Bay since devolution. Described as an accessible yet thorough investigation, it serves as a call to action for Welsh residents to demand improvements in political, economic, and social spheres. Hayward contends that Welsh perspectives are frequently ignored in national discussions, and he aims for the book to ignite dialogue and drive community engagement.

Announcing the release on Instagram, Hayward stated: “The book dissects how the people of Wales have been relentlessly failed by their own Government in Cardiff Bay, and by politicians in Westminster. It calls on us to demand better. But to do that we need to really understand the problems and then use our anger to force the changes that are needed. This book explains to you why the person you should be angry with is the politician in the suit, not the migrant in a boat.”

The timing of the publication aligns with heightened discussions on governance and public services leading into the Senedd election in May, making its themes especially relevant.
