Xolo Maridueña to reprise Blue Beetle in Superman sequel

Xolo Maridueña will return as Blue Beetle in the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. The announcement comes as production continues in Atlanta.

Sources close to production confirmed that Maridueña will suit up again as Jaime Reyes. He last played the character in the 2023 film Blue Beetle directed by Ángel Manuel Soto.

The sequel is currently filming in Atlanta and is set for release on July 9 2027. James Gunn is directing with a cast that includes David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Gunn previously described Blue Beetle as the first DCU character. Maridueña has expressed pride in representing Latino superheroes in the role.
