Egypt's foreign minister reaffirms support for UN efforts in Middle East

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the United Nations' efforts to promote sustainable development in the Middle East amid ongoing political, economic, and social challenges. The remarks came during his meeting with UN Assistant Secretary-General Abdallah Al Dardari to discuss expanding cooperation and preparations for an upcoming international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, hosted by Egypt in November.

Egypt advances efforts to align with EU carbon border mechanism

Mohamed El-Shimy, Minister of Public Enterprises Sector, held an extensive meeting on Saturday to review state-affiliated companies' efforts to align with the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The mechanism aims to reduce industrial greenhouse gas emissions while safeguarding Egyptian export competitiveness in European markets. El-Shimy emphasized its impact on high-emission industries such as aluminium, fertilisers, and cement.
