A crash involving two buses, a truck, and a car on Hong Kong's Yuen Long Highway injured 21 people with minor injuries on Friday evening. Police were alerted at 6:35pm, leading to closures of several lanes. Bus operator KMB has suspended the involved drivers and is investigating the cause.
A four-vehicle crash occurred on Hong Kong's Yuen Long Highway around 6:30pm on Friday, involving two double-decker KMB buses on routes 276B and 269B, a truck, and a car, as they passed the Pok Oi Interchange near Pok Oi Hospital. Police reported being alerted to the traffic accident at 6:35pm. As of 8pm, 12 women and nine men had sustained minor injuries, including the private car driver.
KMB stated that 18 passengers on the two buses and one driver suffered minor injuries. The company said: “KMB immediately suspended the drivers involved from duties and sent personnel to visit the injured and will investigate the cause of the accident.”
The Transport Department announced around 8pm that sections of the Tuen Mun-bound lanes on the highway near Pok Oi Hospital were closed to all traffic due to the accident. A slip road from the highway to Shap Pat Heung Interchange was also closed, leaving only the remaining lanes available to motorists.
