Randall Lendell Dejourney faces murder charges in the death of 23-year-old Karen Hollis in Alabama. Authorities say he strangled her before disposing of her body along a highway.
Dejourney, 44, was held without bond after a May 26 probable cause hearing in Tuscaloosa County. Investigators allege he killed Hollis in her Northport apartment on May 8, placed her body in a trash bag, and left it along Interstate 59 in Greene County. Hollis had been reported missing on May 8 after her phone was found several miles away. Her family discovered her remains on May 16 while searching an area identified through electronic evidence. A medical examiner ruled the death a homicide by asphyxiation, contradicting Dejourney's claim that Hollis had hanged herself. Dejourney and Hollis were acquaintances, according to Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Captain Jack Kennedy. Authorities have gathered physical, witness, and electronic evidence but have not yet determined a motive. Dejourney remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
