Amit Shah speaks to family of slain Kashmir policeman

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the family of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi on July 24. The policeman was killed in a terror attack two days earlier in Anantnag district.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke by phone to the family of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi on Friday, July 24. Qureshi was killed on July 22 while on Amarnath Yatra duty in Anantnag market when a gunman opened fire.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the family home in Beerwah, Budgam the same day. He said the administration would support the victim’s son until he completes his studies and qualifies for a government job.

BJP leader Sunil Sharma who was also present said he was grateful for the minister’s personal assurance of full support. Lieutenant Governor Sinha added that the nation was proud of the martyr’s sacrifice and urged society to stay united against terrorism.
