Alert status areas include Tegal, Pemalang, Pekalongan, Batang, Demak, Kudus, Jepara Regencies, and Pekalongan City. Meanwhile, a caution status for 150-200 millimeters potential applies to regencies such as Brebes, Cilacap, Banyumas, Purbalingga, Kebumen, Banjarnegara, Wonosobo, Purworejo, Temanggung, Magelang, Kendal, Semarang, Boyolali, Klaten, Sragen, Sukoharjo, Karanganyar, Wonogiri, and cities of Tegal, Magelang, Semarang, Salatiga, and Surakarta.

More broadly, BMKG forecasts very heavy to extreme rain in West Java on January 21, 2026. Heavy to very heavy rain is also likely in Bengkulu, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, and Papua Mountains. Medium to heavy rain is expected in other areas, with light rain possible in cities like Semarang and Yogyakarta.

Thick cloud cover is anticipated in Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, Tanjung Pinang, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, with hazy air potential in Samarinda. In eastern regions, thunderstorms with rain may occur in Kupang and Merauke, with moderate rain in Mataram, Mamuju, Kendari, and Ternate.
