Call of Duty movie to be set in Modern Warfare universe

Paramount Pictures' upcoming Call of Duty film will be set in the Modern Warfare universe. Taylor Sheridan is writing the screenplay alongside director Peter Berg.

The announcement came during a Call of Duty in Culture Panel at Fanatics Fest in New York City on Saturday. Peter Berg revealed that the untitled movie will draw from the Modern Warfare games, which began with Call of Duty 4 in 2007.

Plot details remain under wraps since the project was first announced in September 2025. The film is being produced in collaboration with Activision and carries a release date of June 30, 2028.

The deal, struck last year under new Paramount owner Skydance, also includes potential for further Call of Duty content across film and television.
