Cat Power has released a three-song EP titled Redux to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her 2006 album The Greatest. The EP features re-recorded tracks and covers, including a tribute to late guitarist Teenie Hodges. It is available digitally and on 10-inch vinyl via Domino Recording Company.
Cat Power, the stage name of singer-songwriter Chan Marshall, marked the 20th anniversary of her breakthrough album The Greatest with the release of Redux on January 23, 2026. The EP, issued by Domino Recording Company, includes three tracks: a re-imagined version of her own song "Could We," a new recording of James Brown's "Try Me"—originally attempted during the The Greatest sessions but unfinished—and a cover of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U." The latter serves as a dedication to Teenie Hodges, the guitarist from the Memphis Rhythm Band who collaborated closely with Marshall on The Greatest and passed away in 2014.
Recorded at Church House Studios in Austin, Texas, by longtime collaborator Stuart Sikes—who has worked with artists like Loretta Lynn and The White Stripes—the EP features backing from the Texas blues supergroup Dirty Delta Blues. The lineup includes guitarist Judah Bauer of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, keyboardist Gregg Foreman of The Delta 72 and Jesse Malin, bassist Erik Paparozzi of Lizard Music, and drummer Jim White of Dirty Three and Hard Quartet.
Redux arrives amid a busy period for Cat Power, who has scheduled an extensive 2026 tour across North America, Europe, and the UK. Highlights include sold-out shows at Portland's Revolution Hall, New York's Webster Hall, Luxembourg's Philharmonie Luxembourg, and Paris's Salle Pleyel. The tour kicks off in Houston on February 12 and extends through November, with additional dates in October for European stops.
This release revisits the soulful, blues-infused sound that defined The Greatest, blending Marshall's introspective style with nods to her influences and collaborators.
