Díaz-Canel receives Vietnamese foreign minister in Havana

First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez met on Monday with Le Hoai Trung, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam and minister of foreign affairs.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba. Díaz-Canel highlighted the historic bonds of friendship between the two countries, rooted in the relationship between Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro.

The Cuban president thanked the visit following the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and mentioned ongoing economic transformations in Cuba. He also denounced the US blockade and called for international solidarity.

Le Hoai Trung conveyed greetings from General Secretary To Lam and expressed condolences for the passing of Ramiro Valdés Menéndez. Other Cuban leaders, including Manuel Marrero Cruz and Esteban Lazo Hernández, took part in the reception.
