Dilip Asbe joins SWIFT global supervisory board

Dilip Asbe, chief executive of India's National Payments Corporation of India, has joined SWIFT's global supervisory board. The move gives India greater input into international payment standards.

The appointment recognizes the growth of India's Unified Payments Interface system under Asbe's leadership. It remains subject to regulatory approval.

SWIFT oversees global financial messaging standards used by banks worldwide. The board role positions NPCI to influence cross-border transaction rules.

India has expanded its digital payments infrastructure rapidly in recent years. Officials view the board seat as validation of those efforts.
