Presenter Flavie Flament announced on Friday that she has filed a rape complaint against singer Patrick Bruel over alleged events in 1991 when she was 16.
In an Instagram post, Flavie Flament stated she had filed the complaint “so that the truth comes out, so that justice is done”. Her lawyers, Me Corinne Hermann and Sonia Kanoun, confirmed the filing on 13 May at the Paris judicial court with a civil party claim. The Paris prosecutor’s office said it had not yet received the complaint.
The facts described in the complaint, revealed by Mediapart, allegedly occurred in 1991 during a meeting at Patrick Bruel’s home. Flavie Flament claims she drank tea then blacked out, waking in a state of shock. Patrick Bruel firmly denies the accusations and rejects any claim of drugging or imposed relations.
His lawyers recalled an episodic relationship in the 1990s and later meetings on television shows. At least two other complaints for sexual violence target the singer, filed in Paris, Saint-Malo and Brussels. Patrick Bruel benefits from the presumption of innocence.
