For over an hour, Pérez defended his tenure by recalling the 66 titles won in football and basketball. He also accused the press of orchestrating a campaign against him and the club, specifically naming the newspaper ABC and criticizing the leak of an incident between players.
The president rejected rumors about his health and said he is not tired. "They will have to kick me out with bullets," he declared when referring to possible rival candidates, whom he challenged to come forward publicly.
Pérez mentioned the Negreira case and announced the preparation of a report for UEFA. The club will hold elections in the coming months, although the exact date has not yet been set.
