George Russell is focusing on what he can control as he works to close a 68-point deficit in the 2026 Formula 1 drivers' championship.
Russell reflected on recent setbacks including a power unit failure in Canada and a penalty at the Monaco Grand Prix that ended his points hopes. He said he has not sought explanations from Formula 1 or the FIA, stating it is now history.
The Mercedes driver plans to drive on instinct rather than data at the upcoming Barcelona race. "I'm going into this weekend with a clear head," Russell told Motorsport.com.
Russell credited his performance psychologist and examples from athletes like Rafa Nadal for helping maintain perspective despite trailing teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
