Globe and PLDT report strong data center growth in Q1 2026

Globe Telecom and PLDT released their first-quarter 2026 financial reports, highlighting data center expansions and rising demand for digital services in the Philippines.

Globe said its data center joint venture with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres and Ayala Corporation is on track to exceed 30 megawatts of total capacity within the year. The company reported that STT Fairview 1 has completed its structure and Level 1 data halls, while STT Cavite 2 Phase 1 has reached ready-for-service status with active customer deployments.

Globe increased its capital expenditures by 51 percent year-on-year to 12.7 billion pesos in the first quarter. Its mobile subscriber base reached around 67 million as of end-March 2026, up 8 percent from a year earlier, with mobile data traffic rising 18 percent to 1,810 petabytes.

PLDT’s data center arm Vitro leads the sector with 100 megawatts of capacity, including the 50-megawatt Santa Rosa campus in Laguna. The company said data center revenues grew 10 percent year-on-year, supported by demand for secure facilities.

Globe noted that its fintech unit Mynt, parent of GCash, now accounts for 30 percent of net income before tax. PLDT reported that its wireless data traffic rose 10 percent to 1,583 petabytes in the quarter, while 5G device users increased 34 percent to 12.2 million.
