Construction of the PSEL Legok Nangka waste-to-energy facility in West Bandung Regency officially began on July 29, 2026. The project will convert waste into 40 MW of electricity and other renewable energy.
Deputy Energy Minister Yuliot Tanjung said the facility uses incinerator technology with temperatures above 800 degrees Celsius. The technology ensures all waste is fully burned without producing harmful dioxins.
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi described the project as a partnership with a Japanese partner. He added that construction will resolve waste piles in West Java while producing sustainable clean energy.
Electricity generated will be delivered through transmission lines built in parallel. The facility is targeted to operate in 2029 and could expand to areas such as Bogor and Cirebon.
