Philosopher and economist Horacio Fazio criticized President Javier Milei’s intervention in defense of presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni. He stated that the president cannot act as judge and party in a case under judicial review.
Fazio stated that Adorni’s situation could have been resolved within a couple of days if the required asset declarations had been submitted on time. He noted that the alleged six-figure expenses in undeclared dollars are embarrassing and linked the case to Milei’s earlier remarks portraying tax evaders as heroes.
The analyst stressed that in a republican system the branches of government must remain independent. He criticized the president for publicly backing Adorni and ruling out his removal without awaiting a judicial ruling.
Fazio also questioned the government’s reliance on social media and streaming broadcasts. He remarked that a leader’s time belongs to the community rather than to the officeholder.
