Idaho man charged in alleged three-day assault on woman

German Zamora Valdez Jr. faces multiple felony charges after a woman escaped a three-day ordeal involving repeated beatings and strangulation in Idaho.

Police say the 43-year-old man attacked the victim after becoming angry that she wanted to clean instead of paying attention to him. He allegedly destroyed her cellphone, prevented her from leaving a trailer, and struck her with a collapsible table, causing facial injuries.

The woman told investigators she tried to escape multiple times but was tackled and choked until she could not breathe. On her final attempt she bit and scratched Valdez before fleeing to a neighbor's RV, where police were called.

Valdez was arrested and charged with felony domestic battery inflicting traumatic injury, felony attempted strangulation, and misdemeanor destruction of a telecommunication line. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 25.

If convicted, he could face up to 26 years in prison.
